Research

In line with section 22(4) of the Property Practitioners Act (PPA), the PPRA is mandated to collaborate with the National Research Foundation (NRF) on targeted research to support transformation, inclusivity, and professionalisation in the property sector. Key focus areas include barriers to entry, demographic representation, discriminatory patterns, compliance and enforcement mechanisms and the property sector’s role in economic and spatial transformation. 

The PPRA is undertaking the following research topics:

1. The impact of post-matric curriculum on the transformation of the South African property sector 
2. Assessing professionalism in the property sector of South Africa 
3. The third research project entitled “Sector skills development and resilience in the South African property market” is being proceeded with and is expected to be completed shortly. 
4. The attraction and retention of emerging property practitioners in rural provinces of South Africa 
5. The transformation of the property sector through alignment of compliance strategy and enforcement mechanisms 
6. An analysis of the level of maturity of the South African property market”. 

Work is currently underway to finalise the Terms of Reference for the next study entitled “The attraction and retention of emerging property practitioners in rural provinces of South Africa”, with a Research Colloquium planned for presentation and discussion of completed reports.
