Procedure for lodging an Appeal Against PDE Results

Step 1

Filling the Notice of Appeal:

The Appellant lodges an appeal with the PPRA within 14 days of being aware of the examination results that they wish to appeal against by completing and submitting the completed Notice of Appeal found on the link below, together with the proof of payment of the required appeal fee to resultsappeal@theppra.org.za

Step 2

Pre-checking and Acknowledgement of receipt of the Notice of Appeal:

Upon receipt of the Notice of Appeal and supporting documents, the Education Official prechecks the documents for compliance and issues an acknowledgement of receipt to the Appellant, confirming the next stage of the appeal process. If the documents are not compliant, the Appellant is advised of how to rectify/remediate and make a resubmission.

Step 3

Allocation of the Appeal Fee:

The compliant appeal and payment proof is registered in Appeals Register / List and referred to the Finance department for allocation of paid fees.

Step 4

Referral of the appeal to the Appeal Reviewer:

Upon confirmation of allocation of  paid fees by the Finance department, the appeal is referred to the Appeal Reviewer for further consideration.

Step 5

Appeal Reviewer assessment outcome

The Appeal Reviewer completes the assessment of the script within 5 days of the referral of the script and makes the assessment decision. The decision or assessment outcome is communicated to the Education Official handling the appeal for further processing

Step 6

Appeal outcome to the Appellant:

Upon receipt of the Appeal Reviewer’s assessment outcome, the Education Official captures the result on the PPRA system and issues the appeal outcome to the Appellant. If the appeal outcome is positive, a PDE Certificate is issued and if the outcome is negative, a letter confirming the result is communicated to the Appellant.
