The PPRA reminds all property practitioners required to complete the PDE that, should they foresee and/or be unable to sit for the examination due to valid reasons, they must follow the prescribed postponement procedures.
Postponement requests must be submitted in writing at least 14 days prior to the scheduled examination registered for and where unforeseen circumstances apply, at least 5 days after the examination registered for, in accordance with the procedure outlined below.
All postponement requests are subject to approval by the PPRA to be considered valid. Whilst currently there is no fee applicable when examination candidates formally lodge the postponement request, from 1 April 2027, all postponement requests will be subject to an administrative fee to be determine yearly by the PPRA and which will be payable upfront. The postponement fee will be on the published PPRA schedule of fees, also published yearly before or at the beginning of April each year.
Each postponement request must include a clear reason for the postponement, supported by relevant documentation e.g. a medical certificate or a death certificate, etc. The PPRA will then advise if the request is approved or not approved and, where not approved, reasons for non-approval will be communicated accordingly.
If a postponement request is approved, the examination candidate must re-register for the next scheduled examination. Where applicable, a top-up payment may be required. Examination candidates must upon re-registration email their new examination registration confirmation, along with proof of both the original and any additional payments, to pde@theppra.org.za. This will enable the PPRA to link the registration to the payments received and allocate an examination seat.
Examination candidates who therefore fail to request a postponement and merely absent themselves from the examination will forfeit the examination fee paid and will be required to re-register for the examination and pay the applicable examination fee at the date of registration.
