NOTICE TO ALL PRINCIPALS

SELF-ASSESSMENT OF COMPLIANCE WITH EAAA AND FICA 2018/2019
                                                                                                                         

The Estate Agency Affairs Board (the EAAB) has a mandate to regulate and control certain activities of estate agents in the public interest. In addition, the EAAB is a Supervisory Body of the estate agency profession in terms of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act and is obliged to take all steps required to prevent, identify and report on money laundering and terrorist financing activities in the estate agency sector.

This mandate requires the EAAB to assess the level of compliance with the Estate Agency Affairs Act (the Act) and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA). In this regard, some Principals will be selected to complete the self-assessment of compliance electronic questionnaire that will be made available on the MyEAAB Agents Portal on the EAAB website www.eaab.org.za from 01 December 2018. The EAAB will duly notify each selected Principal via email communication.

As the Principal of the selected estate agency firm, you will be required to log onto the  MyEAAB Agents Portal, click on the “Self-assessment” link on the Portal and complete the questionnaire before 31 January 2019.
