PPRA WAGE NEGOTIATIONS DISPUTE AND STRIKE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY

Dear PPRA Stakeholders,

PPRA WAGE NEGOTIATIONS DISPUTE AND STRIKE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY

This communiqué serves to inform you that PPRA employees, through their recognized trade union, i.e., National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) have with effect from Monday, 29 May 2023, embarked upon a protected strike which is continuing. This is because of a wage dispute which could not be resolved at the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

The strike alluded to above is a follow on from the 48-hour formal notice to strike that was served on the PPRA by NEHAWU on 23rd of May 2023, thereby giving employees who are members of the union the right to participate in the strike.

This action is currently impacting on our service delivery, however, the PPRA has proactively put necessary contingency measures in place, including inter alia, an increase in security officers to monitor the situation, having South African Police Services on site at PPRA offices as a backup, and more importantly, engaged temporary staff members to assist for as long as the strike lasts.

PPRA management commits to keeping all stakeholders informed and updating industry stakeholders of the developments regarding the strike on an ongoing basis.

Should you as the stakeholder experience challenges, please feel free to engage with my office.

Yours faithfully,

Ms Thato Ramaili, ACEO

For and on behalf of PPRA Management
