EAAB Relocates to Department of Human Settlements
IMMEDIATE RELEASE 29 May 2012
RELOCATION OF THE ESTATE AGENCY AFFAIRS BOARD FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SETTLEMENTS
The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) has with effect from 17 May 2012 been relocated from the Department of Trade and Industry to the Department of Human Settlements which will, henceforth, be the Executive Authority of the EAAB. This move, which has been in the offing, for some time, is welcomed by the EAAB which hopes to cement fraternal ties with the new Executive Authority as it strives to fulfill its statutory regulatory mandate.
The EAAB has fallen under the jurisdiction of the Department of Trade and Industry since 1976 when its founding legislation was first promulgated. The EAAB has since that time enjoyed a co-operative and mutually harmonious relationship with the Department of Trade and Industry and, under its active supervision and control, has gone from strength to strength in protecting consumers in the estate agency environment while still having regard to the legitimate interests of professional estate agency practitioners.
The EAAB wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Department of Trade and Industry for the ongoing assistance and guidance that has been rendered and more especially to the Minister of Trade & Industry for his continuous interest and commitment to the affairs of the EAAB.
The EAAB is confident that a similar sound working relationship to the advantage of all stakeholders will be established with the Department of Human Settlements and looks forward to long and beneficial ties with our new Minister.
